What do you all think about dealers selling boats on this site? In the past, most dealers have contacted us and asked if we allow this, and we have, in limited numbers. We do not want the for sale section overrun by dealer ads, but we don't necessarily want to discourage them either. So, what do you think?

I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina. We specializes in Nautiques and Correct Crafts, and also provide general service for Nautiques fifteen years old and older.

I have no problem with it. Saves me time searching on Boattrader, flipsell, etc. It's completely relevant and convenient. By posting on the site, they also agree to let us raz them about their pricing! I think it's a good thing.Comment

The benefits are obvious to both the dealer and the member. But why should a dealer or vendor that offers a discount to PN members have to purchase a site sponsorship and other dealers get to advertise their boats for free. Let them buy an ad if they want to advertise.Comment

HEY GUYS MY BAD FOR GOING OVERBOARD I DIDN'T REALIZE WHAT I WAS DOING TILL I WAS DONE AND SAW THE AMOUNT OF POSTS I HAD MADE BACK TO BACK, I ACTUALLY WORK FOR HWC AS A TECHNICIAN AND PARTS GUY AND THAT IS WHAT ORIGINALLY DREW ME TO THE SITE. IN THE FUTURE (IF YA'LL DECIDE TO STILL LET DEALERS POST ON THE SITE) THE ADS WON'T BE SO MANY AT ONE TIME. MORE SCATTERED. AGAIN MY BAD GUYS JUST FIGURED THAT POSTING BOATS ON THEIS SITE IS GREAT FOR BOTH PARTIES.Comment

They are still nautiques! Don't we want members to come here to find boats and join the community. There are always wanna bee's. This just lets them be get off the sidelines if the right boat, right price, right place comes up. Also helps the wanna bee's or upgraders when we "evaluate" and comment on a boat. If you charge dealers, you should charge others. Several dealers are probably selling w/o consignment cause one of us upgraded. I know I did.Comment

My 2 cents...
I don’t have an issue with anyone – a private party or a dealer – listing their boat for sale on PN.
However, I firmly believe that PN should get SOMETHING (A flat fee to post the boat or a small percent of the sale?) if the boat is sold as a result of posting it on the site.
Correctcraftfan.com has boats for sale, here is what it states when you go to list your boat…
PLEASE NOTE: There is no fee for listing your boat for sale on CorrectCraftFan.com. However, by doing so you agree to donate 1% of the selling price in the event that the listing contributed to the sale of your Correct Craft. Donations are made through the honor system and payment instructions will be sent to you upon changing the status of your listing to 'Sold'.
Maybe Jeff or Luke could talk to Keith and see how he does with that…
Or charge a flat fee for the listing…
I’m sure Luke and Jeff could use the money for improvements in software and hardware, etc… (Not that the site isn’t great already!)

I wouldn't have a problem with listing new boats either, as long as there was a price included.
