    Advice on Zapco 1-5100 amp

    Hello,

Newby to the board. I have a 06' 210 Team and blew my Clarion amp this last weekend.
I am looking to upgrade and a buddy of mine happens to work part-time at a shop that installs steroe eqp. on boats.

He is suggesting I upgrade the whole system with a Zapco I-5100. In addition, I was thinking of adding another two cans up top for a total of 6.

currently I have a Entry level Zapco I got from the dealer to power my four tower speakers.

Total cost with install is looking to be $1,350.

What are your thoughts about the amp and cost?

    Thanks!

RE: Advice on Zapco 1-5100 amp

You pay a big premium for the clean power produced by a zapco amp. Then you turn right around and put in one of the noisiest operating situations. IMO there is no reason to Zapco in a boat. There are tons of other options more cost effective than the Zapco.

Six speakers is also a difficult load to play, difficult to balance power/output for all six equally.

      Thanks for your thoughts.

The sub is going to get 600w, the tower 400, and another 300 to the inside of the boat. It is a 7 channel amp. Seems very impressive to me.

You did a great job and if your going to play music, play it with the BEST power you can. Anybody can go cheap and play loud noise but loud quality is rare.
