Adding XM to Clarion CMD4A

I've got a 2007 216 TE with Clarion CMD4A head unit.
I know Clarion partnered with Sirius, but as I've already got an XM account through my car (and also prefer XM programming over Sirius's), I'd like to add XM.

Has anyone ever done this. Does this sound like the right part list? Am I missing anything?

I just put my roady 2 in the glove box and hook into the aux input for mine. That way i can have it in the shop, jeep or boat.

I use the XM myfi and have for 5+ yrs now in my truck and boat. XM will give you a reduced rate for a 2nd radio look around on their website. The benefit to a portable one is you can take it other places home, work, another car etc. You could also use an FM modulator with it or use the aux input if you'd rather. Look around on amazon and crutchfield there are some good deals, or just call XM and they can probably give you a deal as well.

The way I understand it is the Clarion head unit will work with the sirius as a plug and play. I also have the same senario. I have XM in my tow vehicle Sirius in my own truck and a XM Roady. I would like to put the roady in the boat, but I can't seem to get an answer if both sirius and XM integrate the same way with the head unit. Clarion makes a special receiver for Sirius. I can't seem to find the same part for XM, made by Clarion.

I added Sirius to my boat last year, and it worked great. It was a very simple plug and play installation. I do not believe XM integrates as easily, but it can be done I'm sure.

What parts did you need to add Sirius and where did you get them? How much does it cost?

added xm to mine.... just used the AUX cables and switched my AUX button with the SAT button

I used this. It can be had for about $100 or so. It is Clarion's Sirius receiver, and easily integrates into our stereos.

By the way, after some checking I found that the CMD5 does accept similar devices for XM, so we're no longer limited to Sirius by Clarion.

I bought this Clarion XM Satellite Radio Solution Package under the impression that it would work with the CMD5. According my installer, though, Clarion hasn't released the firmware for the CMD5 that makes it work with these kind of units. Anyone know anything about this, or any other alternatives for installed XM (not looking for mobile XM units).
