    can convert to the CMD5 and use one of two wired remotes, both of which will work with your existing wire thats already there (huge selling point). the one with the display will need the new bezel, the one without will go in the old xmd1 bezel. i did the later to mine, and it looks great. im not crazy about the look of the bigger remote in that new bezel ...

      I had the same issue, and after reading about the expense and hassle some people were going through, I decided that an FM transmitter was cheapest and easiest. The downside is that it's not as clearor as loud as a cd because I bought one that plugs into 12 v so it charges the iPod, and the 12 v is on drivers side, and head unit is in glove box. I think I'll get around that this winter by installing a 12v in the glovebox. I still think its the cheapest and easiest fix.
