    MP3 instead of head unit

Has anyone ever considered installing an IPOD or MP3 player directly into an amp instead of installing a head unit? I am not sure if I like any of my options for installing a head unit on my 93 SKI. I don't think I want to cut a hole in my glove box, but there are not many other options.

I dont see why you could not do it - you would need to get one of the adapter cables that has RCA and the earphone/mic jack on it - leave the cable attached to the amp and plug in the mp3 whenever aboard

    something like this

This has been discussed several times, both here and over on Wakeword. Plugging it directly in the amps is not a good option, mainly due to the line level. The best bet is to run your system off of a good equalizer with a line driver and auxilary input, then plug your mp3 into the aux.

Clarion has several new marine head units with an aux input in the front. I got mine for a little over a hundred bucks. Just a suggestion...
