Static sound @ Higher volumes- Advice??

I have a Nautique 236 which came with tower speakers, a sub and 2 amps.. The system sounds great at low volumes but when I set it above ~20 the lower speakers sound terrible (muffled or static like) (Similar to blasting music from a $20 boom-box). I restored all factory default wire settings and it has not improved anything. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Have you checked the levels on the amps? it sounds like something is clipping or maxed out...

gain on the amp is probably too high for those speakers. or, the crossovers are set wrong (not sure which amps you have, so they may or may not have X-overs).
