RE: MHayes please reply
Before everyone gets up in arms again let's go over the differences in the products we're talking about. They are COMPLETELY different in design, and they're made to do different things. There are products that are designed (like a pro audio system - what you would see at a concert) to throw sound a LONG ways away, which is why they work better in an application with lots of wind and other noise. These are loaded with long throw drivers and horns, as opposed to tweeters. This class of speakers would be like the wetsounds, etc. and yes, they cost more money. The problem is when you put regular car speakers, designed for a close-range, closed space, not an open envirnment. I hope that helps clarify. If you want something you can hear clearly while riding, get something made for long-range. The best sound you can possibly get is with headphones, so it's a matter of quantity, quality and usually a balance between the two.
I guess I can't say much about the GA team since we can usually get to the dance, but forget what to do while we're there for some reason. (go Bucks!!!)
I hope that helps clarify. Some are cheaper, but aren't made to be heard at long distances, some are more expensive, but you face the tossup over wether your neighbors will enjoy you jammin' out to WHAM!'s greatest hits at 8am.
