    Help with sound system

All this in a 2004 SAN
    2 batterires
1300w DVC Infinity sub pushed by 800w Kenwood
4- 6 1/2" pioneers on the tower pushed by 800 pioneer
    stock Clarion head

If the volume is raised over level 25(max is 33) the sub starts to cut out, then the tower speakers will cut out. Only for a few seconds, then they come back on, hit and miss a while, turn it back down under 25 and everything works fine. This happens if the engine is off, while it's idling, or even pulling a rider.

Can anyone tell me what the problem is?

To the SA's: NO I'm not going to keep it under 25!

Check all of your grounds, all the wiring, and especially at the battery - terminal for corrosion or just not tight. Usually the cutout at high volume is a bad ground, otherwise the amp is crapping out and can't support the demand.

I agree with Sink and had the same problem before. Your amp is probably bridged and can't handle the load. It seems like, no matter what I do, I can't get the same performance out of my amps on the boat that I can in my truck. weird. Try to unbridge your amp and see if that helps. It sounds EXACTLY like the protection circuitry on the amp is engaging, resetting, and the repowering the amp. this happens when the load is too great for the amp. I would definately check the bridging on the amps and try it again, see what happens. Maybe, if it keeps happening, you'll have to get a bigger amp, or a nicer quality one. hope that helps!

Thanks guys, although it's not bridged. I'll check the grounds and see if I can find something I overlooked. The system has been in the boat for 3 years and never gave a problem untill recently.

I had the same problem in my 210. It was the batteries! my batteries were good but couldnt push everything even while driving with volume high. I replaced the batteries with 2 optimas and have no problem. They maintain 14.5v where as my old batts were around 12v.

That also makes sense. If the amp is pulling too much current out of the battery and can't get the amount of power it needs, it's going to kill itself... Hmmm... I'll have to try that, too...
