If you are going to be chilling out listening to your system for a few hours I would upgrade the whole system, is two batteries enough for 2-3k watts I would say no even if you were riding with the boat on most of the time. The number one killer of equipment is low voltage and a regular alternator isn't going to keep up with the kind of draw you are going to present. When I go chill and turn up the system I don't want to be starting the boat all of the time to recharge, it is dangerous and a pain in the butt, I can run mine at pretty loud volume for several hours and never worry about if there is enough juice left to start up and head home. look into one of these set ups, it is pricey but well worth the money. You are looking at about 1800 bucks just for what's in the pictures. Balmar 210 amp alternator and custom machined pulleys to accept the dual 1/2" belts you need to drive it.

That is a great idea if you have the gt-40 motor. But some of us have the zr-6 motor and balmar doesn't offer a 210 alternator for our motors. Trust me I have called about 6 times!! They have the small case ones that will fit, but the preformance is not that much better than the stock. I have been thinking about custom creating a bracket to fit our motors. I have talked to PCM and they don't have anything that would fit the larger case. I mean these are GM motors, but in the automotive form takes a "pad" mount and balmer doen't make a pad mount.
