Front speakers and right side tower speakers not on.... help

Ihave check ed the amps for loose connections and power, checked the tower connection, checked the fuses in the amp and, inline fuse box. Is there another fuse to check?Any suggestions? This in advance

Hey man! Yes i picked it up today!!!! its a 04SANTE I will send you some pics when i get a chance to take some.

its got 30 hours on it, I think i got a pretty good deal. Everything works except for the front speakers and a tower speaker. Its has got to be something loose for them all to go out or a blown fuse. i dont have the book for theclarion head unit so I didnt get a chance to play with the fade. The previous ower said it was working last time out b ut he had it detailed and the the shop took down the speakers to polish them. he didnt know much amp or speakers. he took everything tothe dealer.


Ireally didnt have much day light to problem shoot. Everything else is in awesome shape. Let meknow when yall get back out on water. I might be ableto get a friend and chase you guys around snapping some pics with my D80.

Congrats. I should be getting all new 6.5s in tomorrow. I ordered them last week. should be fun putting them in. I dread the bow speakers. Let me know when you wanna go out. I can go anytime except fri afternoon or sat afternoon

You can download the docs for the head unit on the Clarion site. The docs are the same as included in the box. Not to good...bet better than nothing.

You either have a fade issue, which would be weird for someone to adjust it that way and then leave it. It's either a short in the wire, or you have a connection loose at the amp. Check the connections at the amp and then I would start testing. Either get a Miliameter, or a speaker with two bare ends of wire attached and then start attaching it a various points and see where it gets power and where it doesn't... I think you should also check the RCA's on the back of the headunit. (red and white ones) and see if those came unplugged. Maybe get a new RCA and plug that in and try it, to see if maybe the wire broke... I wish I was close, and I could just come over and help ya!!! We have a pretty tight Nauti community up here and tend to help each other out a lot. What I don't know about engine's my buddy doesn't know about speakers, etc....

Thanks man! I am going to dive into it tonight..... I unplugged the RCA from the amp and plugged them back in... only the left side stopped working. The right side never came on. I am sure its a loose wire I looked under the head unit and saw a collage wires zip tied together. i will go through it and unplug and plug them back in. It will just take me a while to follow the speaker wire to the amp. I am hoping the previous owner just faded it to the back , I doubt it tho... too easy of a fix. Thanks for the input!!!! it is very much appreciated.

The bow speakers were originally connected directly to the head unit - switch the tower speakers (speaker wire) and see if the problem reverses itself - If so the issue would be at the amp.

Make sure the amps are on first. Then be sure the head unit balance and fade are centered. Also make sure the sub output on the head unit is on and turned up. If that checks out reverse the RCA's at the amp. Put the left inputs in the right input and vice versus. If reversing the RCA's switches the problem to the other side then you have a bad RCA wire. If that does not work then you have a more serious problem like blown speakers or a bad channel in the amp or headunit, assuming all wiring is secure. I bet it's something simple.

I might guess you are having issues with the wiring between the amp and the speakers?

To trouble shoot this unhook the speaker wire at the amp, tap the speaker wires on a 9v battery, they will make a scratchy/poppy sound. Take detailed notes of what works and what does not. If all the speaker wires work then it is time to test the amp. Run an IPOD directly into each amp to test it. If the amp passes the IPOD test then you can start flip/flopping RCA inputs to see what goes on, what goes off. Did I say to take detailed notes???

So.... some progress has been made. I did some tracking of wires and found that my right tower speaker wire was torn away from the clip that plugs into the speaker. The loose wire wire were touching each other. Fixed that and the Tower speakers came on and ALL the other speakers that wasnt working started playing.

Another problem I noticed now is - the Port side battery was almost dead. The second amp running the bow and front cabin speakers were running off of this battery. Remind you self that I am a complete n00b to this boat. I had the main switch only running off the starboard battery and was thinking that I was saving the other one for back up (per the CC dealer). So apparently I have only been charging one battery while in operating mode and the other battery was just sitting there draining???

My question now is should I re-route the power wire and have both amps run off one battery? Should I switch both battieres on and if I do will the boat charge both batteries while running?

Any advice is grealty appreciated.

Myself and others that I ride with keep both of theirs on. Never seen a problem from doing this. Your only other alternative would be to hook everything up to one battery and keep the spare on a trickle charger when at home.

Thanks man, makes sense to me. I was only going by our local dealers advice... Is it common to have amp running off of two batteries. Would it be better to move al of them to one?

You should run both amps off of one battery. Always turn the battery to "all" or "both" batteries when the engine is running so both batteries will charge. When sitting and listening to the stereo turn the isolator switch to the battery NOT running the amps. This will isolate the starting battery so you wont be stuck with two dead batteries from running the stereo. The amplifier battery sould be a deep cycle. It will run the amps longer when sitting.
