    2000 SAN Stereo & Electrical Upgrade ?

I have a 2000 SAN stock stereo. I am adding the following:

New head unit and two remotes
    Wetsounds 3-Some on the tower
Wetsounds 4 XS650 to replace the stock location speakers (if they fit)
Wetsounds SYN 6 X 2 (one for the threesome and one for the sub and 650's)
    Wetsounnds 12" sub

I need to add a second battery as well as a high output alt. Can someone point me in the right direction as far as output for this setup for the alt as well as a good place to buy one. Also can someone recommend a good isolator for the two batts. Are there any other issues i need to be aware of in the elec system. Are the two batts going to be able to handle the higher output ?

    Lets hear it !

    Thanks

RE: 2000 SAN Stereo & Electrical Upgrade ?

Did the 2000 SAN have a 100 amp alt? If so you are good to go with the second battery. If you run your boat more than just sitting around listening you should be fine without the isolator. I am running a kicker 850.4, 750.1 along with a clarion 480 and 280 (no isolator and factory batteries with factory 100 amp alt - no issues in two years or 190 boat hours).

New alternator requirement depends on your riding/listening habits. The stock 55/65 amp alternator may supply enough current if you are not constantly pushing the system hard, you also do not absolutely need the spare battery but if you park and listen it is highly recommended. I ran about 1800 watts on my Ski Nautique's stock GT-40 electricals but we rarely listened without the boat running back then.

I am running a a polk 500.1 and a 400.4 set of amps with a peak of 1800+/- watts on a single battery. I dont listen to the stereo unless the boat is under way so I am not sure how long the battery will last. I do have it pretty cranked while riding. I have not had any ill effects on power or alternator and I have been running it like this all summer. I will be adding a second battery so we can listen to it while parked and swimming.

What was the ball park figure for that 100 amp alt ? Did you run a isolator ? I'm not so sure i would need a isolator but definitely need the 100 amper. Thanks

I believe I paid under $200 for the whole kit. Call up White Lake Marine with the part number on those instructions. You can get your discount from this site. I had all kinds of problems so I did the alternator, perko switch, two optima blue top batteries, an onboard minnkota charger (for when it sits at home), a separate fuse panel for my ballast pumps and heater, took the dash off and tightened all the wires on the back to all the gauges and made sure everything was grounded good.
