Finally got some pictures of my winter project. I would like to thank Dave at Earmark Marine for all the help. He set me up with all the materials, and helped me over the phone throughout the whole process. I can take credit for all the lights except the platform, which Earmark actually installed for me. I couldn't figure out the wifes camera so pictures aren't very good.

RE: LED lights
How did you get the side air vents off? I've been tempted to do something like that in mine but didn't want to risk damaging them.

RE: side vents
That's exactly how I did it. They were kind of a pain to get off because like you said i didnt want to damage anything. I spraypainted the outside of the cover to make it look like it's glowing. Dave at Earmark suggested a whole process of how to make it glow, but it sounded like something i didnt want to get into, so i just spraypainted them and am pretty happy with it. Vents only set me back about $35 including the spaypaint. If you have any questions at all about these type of installs give Dave a call, he knows everything there is to know about this stuff and is very helpful.

If you dont mind me asking about how much for the lights. I was quoted to do similar work for mine and the cost was outrageous and have been trying to find a website to buy lights direct to save money2014 G23 450 Coastal Edition

Nauty,
Since you're in our market give Juston a call at 214-222-0974. Our pricing on the LED's and light strips are identical to that of the on-line importer who use the same product. Also, as a Planet Nautique member you'll get a discount on the acrylic rings. If you want to do-it-yourself to save we've just finished a tutorial that will be a big help to you and others. Our experience will pay off.

Nautiques4life,
Actually, we've just completed the LED lighting installation instructions for our current on-line offerings.
We have many more lighting solutions coming as soon as we can get them posted. This will include a number of economy-based products too.
So in the meantime e-mail us if there is a particular product that interests you.

David,
Compare Earmark's LED installation under the platform to the more common in-hull applications. In my opinion, the in-hull LED kits will illuminate further out from the rear of the boat given they are pointed in that direction. It seems like Earmark's LED's are facing downward and will not illuminate as far from the rear of the boat, but further downward?
Is this correct?
Shoot me a PM with an average installation cost of both setup's (6 under platform vs. 2 in-hull applications) if you don't mind.
Thank you!07 Malibu VLX

Boardnxtx,
We actually do many more underwater thru-hull types than the under-the-swimdeck. We just don't get the opportunity to photograph the thru-hulls in water.
The downcasting under-the-swimdeck package creates a halo effect that outlines the swimdeck. Wereas the thru-hull/underwater fixtures are more of a spot light that projects out and away from the boat.
Inboards, I/Os, Jetboats, etc. Have different shapes and contours under the swimdeck and on the lower transom. If the lower transom angles down at 30 degrees then this would negate much of the benefit of a true underwater light, especially in typical lake water. We build polymer contour blocks to correct for both curvature and angle. So every boat and budget dictates a unique approach.
