I have a 2000 196 that I am looking at adding 2 amps and a 12 inch subwoofer to. Due to space constraints I am at a loss for the best placement of all equipment. Has anyone tackled this and gotten good results that they would like to share? If so, please post some pics or details on this link.

RE: Subwoofer and Amp Placement Help for 2000 196
If you're going to put it under the bow make the sub fire downwards and put rubber feet on it. That's worked well in my 2001. The rubber feet keep it off the floor and for some reason mine sounds about 11.2 times better with it firing downwards.Travis Fling

RE: Subwoofer and Amp Placement Help for 2000 196
Hi Travis, Thanks for the reply. Ended up ordering a Kicker L5 in a truck box and will mount the amp to that under the closed bow. Plan on building a special side panel that's vented to allow the port to come through the side by the kick panel. I am going to fire the sub down so that the amp can sit on the back. I think you are right in that the fiberglass floor will help resonate the bass through the boat, much like my home subwoofer does. Where did you find the rubber feet, checked at Lowes and they didn't have any.

I got mine at my local hardware. They look alot like a rubber stopper for a beaker, and I just screwed them in. I LOVE my local hardware because they've all worked there forever, and you just walk in, tell them what you're trying to do and they have four or five suggestions. Great bunch of guys. I'll ask them what they're called. I would be just a hair cautious about mounting to my sub box. Low frequencies will make the box vibrate, which typically isn't the best for electronics and circuit boards, etc. I would mount my amp elsewhere, but then again, it is a boat, which vibrates as well.. Just some food for thought. I know people who have mounted amps to boxes for years with no problems, and some who have had problems. Just some food for thought.Travis Fling

How are you all mounting your subwoofer boxes to keep them from bouncing around in the bow? Also, checked with Kicker Technical and they have no issues with mounting amps to sub boxes, wanted to check for warranty. Actually mentioned that they have done many that way. I am going to try it this way and will give a full report if there are issues.
