Speaker Selector ???

I have an impedence matching speaker selector in my house that I use to distribute 2 channel audio to several in-ceiling speakers.

I would like something that works the same way for my boat. I have an Alpine 4 channel amp and an alpine Mono channel amp for my sub. I will have 4 cabin speakers plus a pair of tower speakers. That means I have 6 speakers with only 4 channels. I think you can wire speakers together, if you are careful, and I will start another thread question on that one, but I want the ability to solve this problem and another problem. The other problem is that I do not want to blast music across the lake from my tower speakers every time I turn on the tunes. So, I want to be able to shut off the tower speakers with the flip of a switch. Am impedence matching speaker selector should work perfectly in this situation, assuming they exist for marine/car audio 4 ohm speakers. Anyone know anything more about this? If they exist, any recommendations?

You can get a Wetsounds 420 eq and it would have seperate controls for the tower and interior, plus then you'd have an eq, and a megaphone!!

Assuming that I can take care of the other problem by wiring in parallel some of the speakers, which it sounds like I can, since the speakers are 4ohm and the Alpine Amps can do 2 ohm, then the Westounds 420 might just be the ticket. It's a bit more than I wanted to spend, but the amount of aggravation I could cause with the megaphone ability might be worth it.

You have a couple options...

Option 1 - 4 boat speakers wired in parallel to the front channels of the amp, 2 tower speakers wired to the rear channels of the amp. Use your deck fader to fade between the tower and the boat. It works but not as well as I like so I run an EQ, the Wetsounds 420 to be specific as Chexi recommends.

Option 2 - wire the amp the same way, deck front outputs to the EQ, EQ fronts to amp fronts for boat speakers, EQ rears to the amp rears for the tower, fade and bass control with the EQ (and the instant a$$hole megaphone too, at least that's what it turns me into when I grab that mic).

Option 3 - add another 4 channel amp dedicated to the tower (bridged to the two speakers). I think the 3 amp configuration works best.
