    sub enclosure help

I've just been given a 12 " pioneer sub, and looking at whacking it in the 210, was thinking of something like jeff's extra seat thingy, by making a box for behind the drivers seat, but no cushion so it's a step for getting in and out at the dock.

now the sub is a pioneer TS-W305C, the enclosure size recommended is a 1.5 cubic foot sealed, but I'm thinking of having it downward firing, and maybe in a ported enclosure, can anyone help with a ported box design for it? or am I better to use a sealed one?

    RE: sub enclosure help

Two quick thoughts. If the specs for the speaker are for only a sealed enclosure you could risk it over extending if its in a ported enclosure. I'm not sure a fiberglass hull is the thing to use down-firing on. I'd think the result would be a lot of rattling and some really weird harmonics. I'm curious if others have done this and the results they've gotten.

          Hey Stu,
Mate if it'a sealed version, make the enclosure sealed. You'll get excellent "all round" performance anyway with the sealed enclosure.

I actually thought the Pioneer subs were able to utilize either type enclosure. Maybe that was just the older ones.?

If you're worried about vibration, put a bottom on the box (open sides) for the sub to fire out at with some "feet" under that to lift it up off the carpet.
