Okay, so instead of replacing the dual 12" subs and custom cabinet that came with my boat when I bought it, I decided to tear off the carpet, epoxy it (which had not been done), and recarpet. The grills that came with it were those cheapo flat waffle looking ones. They were totally rusted, so to the garbage they went. I bought some plastic pioneer grills really cheap to tide me over until I found something better (like $4 cheap for the pair). But, when I finished recarpeting the cabinet today and mounted the speakers, I noticed 2 things.
First, the pioneer grills hole pattern (while the same 8 hole pattern in general) was an 1/8 of a turn off (i.e., the kicker subs I have need a mounting hole at due north and due south, whereas the pioneer grills are designed for holes to be about an 1/8 turn off.
Second, I found that even if I could have lived with that for a while, the grills took up too much space (i.e., I could put 1 on, but not two, because the subs are too close to each other and there is not enough room for 2 grills because they overhang the speakers).
So now I am looking for grill recommendations for my dual 12" kicker subs. I need something that does not overhang the diameter of the speaker and also something that either has a hole pattern with a hole at due north and due south, or something with a grill pattern that it would not look odd if it was twisted a bit.
Any ideas?
