    Ipod hookup

I am putting a ws-420 in and was wondering which is better. Hooking the ipod up to it, or to the deck (CDM5) I had a cdm5 in my old boat and wasn't happy with the display trying to find songs. Any thoughts?

    RE: Ipod hookup

Well I guess that depends on how you want to control it.

Hooking it up to the Aux Input on the WS-420 will let you control it only from the iPod.

Hooking it up to the iPod cable on the CMD5(if so equipped) will allow you to control it from the head unit.

I realize that but is there any difference in sound quality? Which is easier to seleect songs from? I know it was a pain from the deck to search through songs. Is it hard to see the ipod in the sunlight. Maybe I'll just wire it in for both

        I do both.

For convenience during general boating I hook it up to the Clarion so I can use my dash remote, rf remote, transom remote, etc. This describes about 90% of my listening.

When we get serious and have the systems linked together or when somebody is really listening I run it straight through the ws-420 to the amp.

I plug straight into the WS-420 with the Ipod - saves a lot of loose cables.

            I also have installed:

            Charger/Docking Connector

            Dash Mount

I find I run my Ipod Classic with the backlight on all the time, as the charger can sustain the charge 100% at all times, and sitting in the Cradle have clean view of song details without having to touch/pick it up and concentrate on the job at hand - driving the boat
