Building a stereo system on a budget

With the arrival of a new baby and cash being tighter than I am used to, I'm in the process of building a budget system to go into my '97 Sport nautique. I'm trying to use stuff I have lying around and buying the odd bits and bobs from ebay also.

So far I've built a sealed enclosure for a 10" Phoenix Gold Titanium sub, I've bought an old Kenwood amp allegedly rated around 400W RMS bridged so just about right for the sub.

I've got two other amps lying around, both old but they work so as far as I'm concerned, they are disposable so I'll use one or both of 'em till they break... I've got a 2 channel JBL amp reated at 75W RMS and also a 6 channel sony rated at 4x20W RMS + 2 x30 W RMS. I need to figure out what I want to do for interior speakers, I don't want tower speakers as my goal is sounds in the boat and not all around the boat. My intention is to remove the standard gunnel mounted speakers, build some small enclosures and put new speakers in -maybe I could use the Sony amp for this?- I was given some Kicker DX60's which I doubt are particularly good so not sure if I'll use them or ebay them instead.

I think my best option is to build some custom enclosures for the gunnels and add a good quality set of 6x9's. Does anyone have any pictures or ideas as to where to mount them. I think my best option is to leave the trims alone and custom build boxes.

I'm really just looking for ideas ,and maybe some suggestions from anybody else that's added some new speakers to their boats also.

    Thanks for the help.

I have some kicker 620s that I plan on installing on my boat, but I have not tried them out yet. I can hook them up this weekend and let you know what I think.
