    Amplifier mounting help

I am in the process of moving amps to my port hull under the clamshell. I ordered some clickbonds to go about mounting the amps the way wake_fun did, but thought as I upgrade or need to change an amp then those mounts would have to be moved.

So if I don't go the clickbond route, what are most peoples thoughts on the best way to put a mountable surface in?

    MDF sealed with epoxy?
    Plywood sealed with epoxy?
Starboard (will it even glue to the hull)?
    Thickness?
What adhesive is best for mounting?

    Thanks!

    RE: Amplifier mounting help

    Skiking,

    Absolutely no MDF.
Its hard to get anything to stick to Starboard.
Resin-coated 3/4-inch plywood will hold up and screws really bite in plywood.

My favorite adhesive for mounting to the hull is Duramix.

Cover the amp panel with marine carpet. The rubber back provides extra protection.

Thank you David. You guys are always a great help and a great addition to this site! Is Duramix tricky to find?

I'm using nylon plate for a mounting location and will bond this to the hull with 3M 5200. Obviously no probs with water ingress and no need to coat the nylon. Will post some pics once complete

I'm going to use HDPE cutting board material. It will be secured by 3 things. 1. Metal straping tape tied into the cleat bolts and the back of the cutting board (the job for these is limited mostly to keeping it from tipping over). 2. 0/1 AWG wire from distro block holds it pretty tight all by itself. 3. Gravity plus carpet channel. The bottom of the board will rest in the channel where the side wall and floor carpet meet. This is all subject to testing of course, but I expect it to work quite well.

Note on strapping or brackets. Attach to cletes first and secure. Put in board, mark holes, drill holes. Then put bolts through strapping and put a nut on the on the bolt and tighten. This should lock it into place so you can bolt the board on without the bolts spinning (it is difficult to impossible to get a wrench back there one the board is in place.
