I am looking for a new deck that has a hard wired IPOD cord. I dont need a CD player and the deck will have to have enough power to run 4 infinity Kappa speakers inside the cabin. My 2 channel amp will power the tower speakers and another amp will power the sub. Any suggestions? I understand that some decks use better components for the IPOD player if you don't need the CD player.

RE: What is the best ipod ready deck w/o the CD player.
check out the fusion MS-IP500, the Ipod docks inside the head unit and is completely waterproof. Can use multiple wired remotes with it too.

RE: ipod
Just finished my first weekend on the water since I installed the CCAIPOD on my Clarion CMD5. I use it and the Aux input depending on my mood/need. If I don't want to fuss much I just put on an album or playlist then plug it in, I can skip forward over a track or replay a track by pushing on the factory remote. If I want to control the IPOD with the click wheel I move it to it's driver side holster and plug it into the aux input then control the ipod from the click wheel. Works well.

RE: ipod
A friend of mine got the iDA-X100 (car version) and really likes it. However, the USB hookup ONLY works with an iPod. Supposedly it would work with others (ex: Creative) but Alpine never implemented the protocol. He called and confirmed. But, it also has an AUX input in the back you can use in addition to the USB.
Every head unit manufacturer sounds a little different. If you get the Alpine, it will take you a few days to get used to it and get the sound the way you want. That was the experience with my friend but now that's he's got it tweaked, it sounds awesome. He's pushing 4 JL door speakers off the head unit and it's very loud...but, that's in a car. You can always get an amp to add on later.2000 Air Nautique

RE: Re: RE: ipod
I spoke with an Alpine rep and he told me that Alpine struck a deal with Apple to share their CODECs. Since that time I think the Alpine is one of the most fluid operating units with the IPOD.
I have used previous generations up to the X100M. My friends on the lake have about every varation of head unit available in their different boats and in my opinion nothing compares to the two current Alpine marine head units. They work seamlessly with the IPOD's and the full speed connection is just that.
Right now, I think nothing tops the Alpine units when it comes to look, feel, and speed when dealing with the IPOD. You can put your IPOD in a safe place and forget about it. The head unit will keep it charged and display everything you need.
Plus, Alpine will have their remote option out soon.1999 Super Sport Nautique

RE: Re: RE: ipod
The news is great.....but i just tried calling Crutchfield to order one, and they told me they received only 8 on 4/6/09 shipment and they are all sold. The salesman told me that it has been discontinued, and have none on order. This seems like a load of BS to me, why would any retailer discontinue selling an item that they pre-sold out of? Its absolutely ridiculous.

RE: Re: RE: ipod
These guys said they will get 10 in next week.

Also Alpine said they had 100 units and a bunch went out to local dealers, and they still had a few in the warehouse. They told me to just call my local dealer and ask.
