Hey guys, just purchased some Alpha II tower speakers and a second clarion amp. Does anyone have a wiring diagram of how the factory ties these in together?
Got another APX480M, I do have one pair of the alpha II, looks pretty straight forward, but was going to try to stick to how the factory ties everything together. Was going to jump power from existing amp to new one but decided to put in a junction block for the power and the ground coming from the battery and split off to the two amps. I was going to put the sub onto the new amp with the tower speakers too, but decided to leave it were it is because I am going to run a wire from the blue remote on wire over to the drivers side to a switch and back to the new one so if I want to shut off the tower speakers I can just flip the switch off.
You have one clarion 480 installed or do you have the 280 and 480 installed (factory)?
You will need new power wire from the battery - the one that is there is not fused/breaker
high enough to use factory one amp power wire with distribution block - you will need new
ground from battery as well.
Do you have the 280 on the tower and the 480 running 4 speakers and the sub?
I now have two 480's, one from the factory and one new one. Good to know on the power wire. Thanks! I am hoping to get it wired this weekend. Fished the wires up through the tower already, after that everything else should be a piece of cake! What size in line fuse will be sufficient?
You currently do not have tower speakers other than the newly purchased ones. Slight misunderstanding on my part.
Rather than put a switch on the amp - you should consider putting the two bow speakers on the new amp and get them off the head unit.
The tower is not going to be so loud that it is necessary to turn off. If you really want the switch - still put the bow speakers on the amp,
they need some extra juice no matter what.
I believe you need a 50 amp fuse with a minimum of a #8 wire for the 12v pos and a #8 non fuse for the neg
New amp is installed. Hooked bow speakers to it and sounds really good! Waiting to get the tower cans back from paint and will hook them up for the completed project! So far, so good.
