Does anyone know the depth that the screw actually goes into the fiberglass (the factory mounts right to the fiberglass here right)? I am going to be intalling an amp and sub and would like to mount to the side hull at this location. I plan on mounting the amp to a board and then attaching the board, but I am a little nervous about screwing into the fiberglass. Any other hints or comments are always welcome. I have a 2003 216.

        Thanks

A stock amps mounting width is probably no bigger than an 1/8 at the most.. not sure on your amp.. mine was less than a 1/16.. so 5/8 is the depth the screw will go in.. maybe alittle more.. You need to check to make sure that your mounting area is raised by extra fiberglass where you putting the screws in to hold your board.. My boat only had raised tabs.. since my amps and boards were alot bigger I had to epoxy my board to the side hull and then screw my amp to that..

            Craig,

On my 206 there was a board mounted to the hull on the port side under the observers seat, you can feel where it is behind the carpet. The factory amp was screwed to that board NOT the fiberglass. Was able to fit my second amp above the factory amp screwing into the same board using some aluminum angle.

Thanks for the help. I can see where there is a board (or thicker fiberglass) behind the carpet and this is where I plan to attach. I am still a little undecided on whether to try and fab something to limit the screws or whether just to attach to what it there. Thanks again.
