stock system. 4 ch. claroin running 4 in boats and sub with xmd3 h/u. i added a kicker amp today. there is a small brown wire attached to the middle of the back of the h/u. i want to say it was hooked to the ground of one of the amps, but i can't remember. does this need to be reconnected, if so to the ground or remote turn on? it's not in the harness. i'll post pics when i finish tomorrow but i ran power wire through a buss breaker, then to a block and distributed that 2 each amp, then i ran a ground wire to a block and hooked a cable to each amp ground. the speaker wires are all connected. I just wanted to make sure im not leaving anything out. the batteries are still disconnected and the breaker hasn't been reset and im not going to turn it on til i double check everything. i couldnt find any info in the manual on the brown wire. it looks like its held on to the h/u w/ a ring terminal and there is 1 or 2 black wires going to god knows where attached to the same spot. it's my friends boat and my first install(i didn't have to wire any speakers so its not a full one) and i want to make sure i do it right rather then have 2 power wires, shared ground, cheap wire, long run, not actually mounted 2nd amp...the power wire from the 2nd amp was weird. it had a weird fuse that you got to by unscrewing a black plastic cylindrical housing on the wire and it was the weirdest fuse i've ever seen. also, the only wires i removed were:ground from clarion, shared ground from clarion to phoenix gold amp, power wire from pg amp and clarion amp, 12v turn on from pg amp, speaker wires from pg amp, and then the mysterious brown wire from the back of the h/u that i think came off the pg amp, but not sure. i tend to over think things like this so thanks for bearing with me.

Re: forgot where wire goes
Here is an excerpt from the Install Manual so you can take a look. I dont see the Brown wire pictured, but I think it shows the connection - is it possible this if for an accessory ground, is there satellite or anything else you are using? Regardless, if you have the HU grounded with the Black wire as pictured then you should be good to go as far as the head unit is concerned.

RE: Re: forgot where wire goes
i can't remember what my other posts were titled so here goes. install done. sounds great. front speakers are blown so i unhooked them. both crossovers were hanging by the wires. it's an 05. i want to look at mine and see if they are hanging. the boat i am referring to has never had any work done on the stereo before except an added tower amp.

RE: Re: forgot where wire goes
My 05 also had the crossover hanging by the wires... Seems like that was factory protocol. I just siliconed them to the hull above the speakers. Soon to be gone as all of my MMC650s are blown, they will be getting replaced by db651. No more crossover boxes!

RE: Re: forgot where wire goes
I'm on the db650 and 675's and I really like the way they sound. I have to say I've been very impressed for the money, I really like my sound system. It's really clear and loud.
It's not the big name stuff, but I have
Polk DB650's in the front, 675's in the back (thanks for the advice Mikeski!!!)
Kicker KMT6's on the tower
Kicker KX650.4 for the interior's and tower
Eclipse CD3000 headunit
PAC LC1 for the "remote"
Pioneer 720w for the sub
infinity 10" sub.
None of it's Wetsounds, or JL, but it sounds really good, and more importantly, getting a lot of stuff here I bet I have less than 500.00 in the system and it pounds. Someday I'll have some fancy bling.Travis Fling

RE: Re: forgot where wire goes
G you can get that with a pair of 485's and they will not hang down as far. For some reason the 80's are almost 2 inches lower. Tower space is precious and any little bit you can save is better.2001 Super Air Nautique
Python Powered
100 Amp Alternator
Dual Batteries
Many upgrades coming...
