XMD1 remote compatible with CMD5?

I need to replace my XMD1, and will probably go with a CMD5. However, will my old wired remote work with the new head unit?

If not, is the old wired remote the same diameter as a new one for the CMD5? I don't want to have to modify the mounting location if I don't have to.

I can't say if the XMD1 remote is compatible, but I can say the XMD1 remote is smaller in diameter than the CMD5 remote. Nautique offers a chrome piece to accomodate the new remote (2003 SAN TE - with the remote left of steering wheel).
