I have a 2007 210 team, which has the Polk Momo 12" sub in the crappy stock box. I have read that people who have the 10" polk momo go out and get a ported box made for it, and its supposed to be a lot better. Would the same thing work for the 12" polk momo I have?
If so, does anyone know what the dimensions for the 12" ported box would be to get the best sound out of it?

    >>the links to the amp manuals were clutch -thanks for posting that!
Does anyone have the links to the Polk Momo 6.5" speakers in the boat?

The polk sub is not designed for a ported box. The 10" is actually designed to go in a smaller box than the factory CC box. You can have one built or buy an audioformz.com enclosure and it will sound much better. I am running one and my buddy with a 220 did the same thing and his sounds much better now.

Bchesley -thanks for the info. So you say go with a sealed box over a ported box for the polk momo sub? Also, not sure if you saw, but I have the 12", will that work best in the sealed too you think?

          Mikeski. -thanks for that link!

            justsan,

Replacing the stock enclosure will provide an improvement just like bchesley said. I am one of those who have strongly recommended a bass-reflex enclosure for the Polk MOMOs.

For the Polk MOMO 12-inch, use 3/4-inch stock. The external box displacement should be 3 cu. ft. (or 5126 cubic inches) in whatever shape you can best manage to fit. After the port volume this equates to about 1.75 cu. ft. internal. The port should be 24 inches long with a 17 square inch surface area (1x17 or 2x8-1/2 for example). This will tune low with a smooth response.

Also, be sure to vent the port side locker. The vent surface area should be at least equal to that of the sub.

Check out AndyRay's review of his ported box in the Dec. 29th '08 post on the bass rehab thread.
