WS-420 can it be installed just under a single DIN radio?

Has anyone successfully installed a WS-420 under or on top of a single DIN radio in a late 90's nautique Sport or Air? I think that there is enough room in that slot for a double DIN radio, so I'm guessing it can work with the right bezel. Anyone have any ideas on a bezel / housing that would work for this combo? I would prefer something that has a cover slot, but since they are both marine items, I could live without a cover.

yes it can, but serves no purpose. u want to get at the vol. controls. when i had mine installed i guess i didnt explain where i wanted it and they did a beautiful job mounting it in the glove box but i had them move it. call earmark.

I agree with G. I have had mine installed and in use for a month or so and am so glad I put it where I did. I am constantly adjusting for differences. I turn the tower down when I have no rider and adjust sub for different kinds of music. Mine is mounted in the middle under the steering wheel and its super easy to get to even when under way and you don t have to take your hand off the throttle.

My radio is located in the dash, so mounting the WS-420 under it should make it pretty accessible. But I think Brad is saying that he uses his left hand to operate the WS-420, which is something I had not even thought about. I think I'll zip tie mine under the steering wheel and see how I like it. Otherwise, SuperSquirt was kind enough to respond to a PM I sent and told me that Crutchfield provided his bezel and has 100's of them, at least 1 of which would work.

I never saw the point of putting the 420 in drivers reach??? The volume can be controlled by the dash remotes, and I doubt many people tweak their eq settings every song. Bass and tower volume are the only two I ever even adjust, and i always stop the boat before loading up a rider. Not to mention all the wires that have to be run from one side to the other.

Once setup, the only adjusting I plan to do is the tower/boat volumes, but I plan to use those a lot. I would also want the mike near the driver. In Texas, we do not require spotters, so there will be times when it is just the driver and the person being towed. I want the driver to be able to talk to the rider. Hopefully the mic works well enough for that at speed. Of course this is easy in my setup, as the head unit is in the dash not in the glove box. That said, I do have rca runs from the EQ to the amps, which are under the observer's seat. However, those runs were already there before adding the EQ. So for me, having it near the driver is a no brainer because it is an easier installation.

BTW, I think I found the bezel you mentioned SS. Thank you.

I listen to all kinds of music and no matter how hard I try the system cant be set up perfect for each type. I will turn the bass down when I have a rap or hip hop playlist on and then turn it up if a rider suggests some rock or metal. I don't adjust the volume all the time on the EQ but the times I have needed to its easy where I put it. Also as loud as my system is I turn it down if there is a shore patrol or game warden coming by.

what tower speakers are you running. That will determine how well you can hear the driver talking thru the mic.

I'm running a pair of Kicker KMT6s ever so slightly unpowered with 110 watts per channel. I will find out this weekend just what the rider can and cannot hear.

i am constantly tweaking my frequencies looking for the perfect sound on my 420. and anytime a ride falls i pull the throttle back and then turn the towers off and boats down with my left hand. i'm right handed. it's second nature now. i'd never have tower speakers w/o one.
