    Amp Settings? Sound sucks!

I have the Stock set from Nautique. 480 amp and the 280 amp. I have seemed to mess up the sound. I was wondering what setting everone else had on the back of there amps? Not a rap fan but would like to hear sound clearly while riding. Listen to Nickelback and that style of music.

You will not hear it while riding with a stock setup. If you want to hear it while riding there are two options. A waterproof Ipod holder or wetsounds. The factory stuff can sound good while floating or just cruising, but not enough guts for any kind of riding. I dumped my 4-polk cans this winter for a pair of wetsounds Pro485's and I actually had a rider tell me to turn it down. Probably not what you wanted to hear, but the truth.

I have stock amps with 4 stock tower speakers and have never had to turn the volume up all the way for any of my riders........Plenty loud and clear right from the factory!

When I get a chance, Ill check the settings on the amps and let you know.

          Schwiiing,

are you riding at 50 feet back? I have been on several new boats with tuned systems and you can barely make ouf the words of the song. Not sure what you have but curious? What year boat do you have?

            Schwiing,

You must have amazing hearing and the ability to tune out the boat motor and wind noise. My crew rides at 23-25 at 75-80' they can hear my Wetsounds just fine but I have never heard a car door speaker at that speed and distance from the boat.

              RE: Amp Settings? Sound sucks!

I've the factory setup with a little tweak and I'm pretty happy about it. I never heard a NVS or Wetsounds and I'm sure these are way better... But the boat came with the stock system so why don't get the best out of it...

First, every stock system I heard is very s##t from the beginning. It really needs some tweaking! First all of the Amp settings are rubish. Very important is to set all the Amp settings to HP filter. Every Amp except the channels for the sub. Get the right crossover frequencies and right output for every speaker system (do this seperately for every speaker (inboard, bow, tower, bass) and then together).

We added a seperate 480 Amp for our stock tower speakers. So this Amplifier is bridged together for the tower speakers. Setting is hp-filtering at about 100hz
The original 280 Amp for tower speakers is now bridged for the Bass box. This amp is connected to the non-faded exit of the Clarion CMD4/5 tuner. This Amp is set at Lp-filtering at about 80Hz.
The third amp, the original 480 is setup interior like before, so 4 speakers set in 2 pairs in parallel in ch1 and 2. Ch 3 and 4 are now for the bow speakers. Also set at hp-filtering at about 80hz.

We can now hear the music clear at about 75'ft with a 230 with ZR-6. It is not loud and I'll not ask to turn the music down while riding, but it is sufficient, clear and nice. The only wires you'll have to run are a positive and negative from the circuit breaker box in the back and a wire for the amplifier remote. An extra input cinch cable is needed with the extra 480 amp and for the rest you only have to cut and rewire some wires. This is a very easy and cheap upgrade from people who have the stock system. I'm really settisfied with this system. It is possible to fade the tower speakers or interior speakers seperately at the CMD 4/5.

Don't forget the setting of the CMD tuner!! The only thing I need to do is wire the CMD to a constant 12V from one of the batteries at the circuit breaker box in the back. The memory is gone everytime we turn the main switch.. Also a great Correct Craft setup....

Still working on mine. Stock Clarion 4x amp has the blue light blinking. Removed the speakers wires and stays the same. Guess I'll try a JL 6x. Then I'll need to re-tweak the settings.
