Here’s an update on a couple of new speakers from Bullet Speakers. You can view them at www.BulletSpeakers.com or on EARMARK’s on-line store at www.EARMARKMARINE.com.
The new 7.7-inch coaxial features an oversized carbon fiber midbass cone. In an open environment like marine, surface area rules! This tower speaker has impressive midbass since it was designed specifically for the small displacement of a tower pod. This is a proprietary Bullet speaker and not just another car stereo speaker.
The tweeter is a ferrofluid-cooled 1-inch dome with a 2nd order crossover. The 770 coaxial is voiced to project as a true tower speaker but is more linear than an HLCD. While this coaxial is not going to compete with a Bullet HLCD at 100 feet, from a sound quality standpoint its fuller and smoother sounding at typical anchored, beached or surfing distances.
Another difference is that the 770 coaxial is less demanding of power versus an HLCD. You can drive the 770 coaxial to potential with moderate amplifier power.
The 770 coaxial is $200.00 a pair less then the 770 HLCD so a system with two pair of tower speakers and the right amplifier match could cost $600 to $700 less.
The Bullet spun aluminum pod (the original) is made and powder coated in the states. The collars are premium quality and are machined versus cast (stronger).
This speaker will direct mount to MasterCraft, Centurion and Malibu. And when using collars the hang height is minimal.
There has been a running change on the Bullet 650 6 ˝” in-boat coaxial. With the new basket design the 650 coaxial will drop into a standard opening without oversizing it. With matching grills and a family sound the 650 coaxial is the perfect in-boat compliment to the 770 tower coaxials or 770 tower HLCDs.
