Never did post up pictures from my stereo project that I attempted this past summer.
'06 Super Air Nautique 220
- NVS Prodigy Tower Speakers
- JL Audio 12W7
- Kicker ZX850.4 (Bench Tested at 1038 watts)
- Kicker ZX750.1 (Bench Tested at 978 watts)
- Wetsounds WS-420 EQ
- In cabin stock Polk Audio's powered by stock Clarion amplifiers.
- Stock Clarion Double Din Head Unit
- JL Audio Terminal's
- Scosche Wiring

With the summer here now, I'm itching to do more. Considering adding a pair of NVS Modus's that will be releasing shortly.

I just have to find some room for the amplifier. They'll need about 250 watts at 4 ohms, so thinking of picking up another Kicker ZX250.2. Right now, the entire compartment is pretty packed with electronic equipment but it's fortunately shielded from water. I would hate to put the amplifier anywhere else - worse comes to worst though, it's small enough to stick right to the subwoofer box.
Also considering changing out the JL subwoofer. It's a power hungry sub and even with 900+ watts running to it with the gains 95% up on the amplifier it still wants more. Thinking of going with an FI subwoofer though I'm not sure if I want to go ported or sealed. My JL is in a sealed box and it's pretty idiot proof. I'm afraid if I go ported sure it'll be louder, but there is also the potential that it will sound like sh*t if the frequency is off - though a boat is fairly open so I'm really not sure.
I was also thinking of changing out the headunit for an Alpine 9886M but Earmark Audio mentioned that I will probably not notice much of a difference. I was under the impression that with a higher voltage, cleaner head unit, I could get rid of some of the hiss that I notice coming from the tower speakers with the WS-420. I ran over my grounds, re-did the wiring and can't get rid of the every slightly hiss emanating from the tower speakers unless I turn the gains down on the ZX850.4. The hiss can't be heard of course unless you turn the music way down and put your ear right up against the speakers. Regardless, it's not a huge concern, just a minor gremlin.
Regardless, for any of this, I will be changing out my batteries for sure. Mikeski and Aumdlst have been urging me to go with golf cart batteries due to their efficiency and ability to run the stereo for long periods of time - not to mention the cost! I was thinking of going with a Kinetik HC2400 for the stereo and a HC1400 for my starter and for that price I could buy enough golf cart batteries and still have cash left over. Just hesitant about this move since not a lot of people have done it. I've seen more people running the typical Optimas and Kinetiks.
Anyway, enjoy the pictures. I'm unfortunately out for the season due to having reconstructive shoulder surgery six weeks ago so I'm left staring at the boat and towing friends and family around. I suppose it gives me some time to tinker with it.
