Clarion CMD5 Wireless Remote

My 2009 230 only came with a wired remote, but I saw that this HU also comes with a wireless remote. Shouldn't I have received one whan I bought the boat?

Anyone here get one with their boat?

Just bought two for $18 + $10 shipping. If it doesn't look to "cheesy" I am going to velcro one in the back of the boat just inside the "cut outs" for the drink holders.

The IR (infrared) remote control that you're referencing is useful in cabin cruisers where the source unit is located in the salon. Since IR washes out in direct sunlight and since the source unit is concealed in the glove box, the IR remote is pretty much useless in a towboat. This would explain why it may not be included from the factory.

Doh! So I need to get one of those little IR "extenders" and mount it in a visible location. It's certainly a cheaper option than the hard wired remote. Otherwise, I suppose I take the "lid" off the glove box or replace with a clear plexiglass cover - lovely.

I believe there is also a RF remote and then of course the hard wired.

Clarion is offering a special deal on the wired remote that comes from the factory on some models. This could solve your problem and be added as a transom remote.
