I think I have fried my amp.

My tower speakers still play but they are less than half as loud as they used to be. Could my amp be toast, I have never burnt one before so I don't know what happens when you burn one.

Did anybody hit one of the control/adjustment on the amp? Do the speakers sound clear still? If an amp blows you generally get no sound at all.
    I don\'t care.

For some reason the amp has gone into protection mode, the lite has changed from green to red. I checked the fuses and they are good. The speakers still sound clear just not load at all.

Did this happen when everything was on? Check the fade/balance controls on the receiver.

Already checked those. I think I am going to take it to the install shop and have them check it out.

I had the same problem. It would click off and go from green to red and stay off for a while. Mine was from overheating. We installed a fan on it and it works great now and that does not happen anymore.

Yea I put the fan on for that problem a month and a half ago. It worked but now it won't reset.

                Fatboy,
Have you checked your ground.??? If the ground is loose or a poor connection, most amps will go into protection mode.

Don't know what you're using for a ground point for your amp/s, but a generally accepted rule of thumb is that the ground needs to be the same size as the power.

                Andrew.

If the amp goes into one of the protection modes, he shouldnt' get any output at all, like it's totally off.

Hey guys, I found out it is not the amp. It is the head unit, the low level output is fried.

For those putting fans on your amps.
                      Questions:
                      Where are/is your amp located?
                      What fan/s are you using?
How are you getting air flow to the area?

Reason I ask is that I have an airflow issue as well with my 210. I have an amp mounted upside down under the observer's seat and it'll cut out and go into protection mode after running it pretty hard. Thought about just putting a computer fan someplace to blow air on the amp but, there really isn't any air flow in that area.
Also, thought about cutting the plastic protector off the horn plate to get some air in the area.

                      Any suggestions/ideas?

                      Chris

DO NOT mount amps upside down
                        I don\'t care.

Yeah, heat rises, and every amp i've ever seen has the vents on the top.
