    Air Tique speaker mounting options

    Hi all! First post.

I just purchased a 1999 Air Tique from my buddy. I originally gave him an amp and we hooked up a bass tube to go along with the current system (stock front speakers in the drivers kick plate and 2 more 6" speakers in the bottom of the engine housing.

Now my dilema...the stock front speakers are 4" and are placed very close together at the drivers foot area...meaning you can barely hear them, especially when you are cruising. I am looking for some ideas on other mounting locations. I would like to go 6" but I just don't know where I can fit them in.

Another idea I had was to re-do the kick plate and put 6" seperates slightly further apart and then mount the tweeters in 2 unused gauge blanks around the steering wheel.

    thoughts from the experts?

    thanks,

RE: Air Tique speaker mounting options

    Scotty,

I wouldn't separate my tweeters from my midbass drivers by any considerable distance as they would sound detached and abrasive due to the height/position/efficiency advantage. Separates would be fine but I would keep the tweeters in closer proximity. Angled tweeters would certainly help overcome a position disadvantage. Aggressive or bright coaxials would work well in an application where they're a bit recessed or obstructed.

If you've only got room for a single 6 1/2" coaxial then you could sum the channels by bridging the amplifier. A mono/stereo input selector would be helpful but not necessary.
