    Urgent HELP needed

I just upgraded the stereo in the 210 last week. I have a complete WETSOUND system. I built the SUB box to match the website only to find last night it is to BIG for the 210. I can't fit it anywhere. Then I realized they built that enclosure for their 24' Tige. They have more room then they know what to do with.

That all said, I need to build a box for this XXX sub. I'm told it needs to be out of 1 inch Birch Ply. Does anyone have a drawing of a ported box and the dims to fit in the passenger seat OR rear locker of there 210?

    cradsv,

You've got to have a starting point. And, that will be the total available dimensions of the enclosure that will fit your specific location needs. From there you can subtract the thickness of your materials in order to arrive at a gross internal displacemnt. The available displacement will dictate whether you're better off going ported or sealed.

The actual shape of the enclosure in either case is less relevant, with a few minor qualifiers, as long as you maintain the correct displacement.

If you have adequate displacement for a ported enclosure but its a little smaller than the WetSounds template, you can remodel the internal volume, port width and port length equation to obtain a similar alignment and tuning frequency based on the driver's published parameters. A slight reduction in displacemnt will result in a longer, more resistive port in order to tune at the same frequency. With this modification I highly recommend the use of an active subsonic filter.

Contact your WetSound's supplier so they can remodel your enclosure per your particular dimensions. They should have a computer program or have access to one for this function.

      cradsv,

By the way, if you are describing the rear storage compartment next to the engine when you stated 'rear locker', under no circumstance would I place a woofer back there. With the hatch closed and moving across the water the most powerful subs sound anemic from within that locker. Plus, there aren't any good options for properly venting the locker like you have with the front port helm locker.

Thanks David, I was hoping you would pipe in here. I purchase the equipment from a boat dealer, so well..... I have been doing some reading online today on the difference in a sealed vs ported. I'm not a pound the bass type person so, I'm thinking sealed box will give me a cleaner sound. I'm not sure I understand the HZ requirements around a vented enclosure.

        I'm thinking about 16x16x16
