    2004 SANTE Stereo Upgrade Help

I'll keep this as simple as possible, system in my boat is stock, 4 in cabin speakers, 2 in the bow(I know take them off the head unit) and one Kicker Impulse 10" sub driven by a kicker kx300.4 and Clarion Head unit.
I have new, to install, a W-420 Eq, Wetsounds XS-10FA Sub 250 RMS 2 OHM and enslosure (under the driver's console, cut out the 'hump'), Kicker KMT6 Tower speakers 150 RMS 4 OHM and a Kicker ZX 700.5 AMP.
The new amp specs, 85x4 2 OHM Stereo, 165x2 4 OHM Mono with a Class D Sub Channel 2 OHM Mono 420 Watt.
Kicker Tech Support told me that the amp will not handle bridging to the two KMT6's. I bought it thinking I could and deliver 165 watts to the tower but I'm not real clear on determining impedance/resistance/ohms so here I am. Will 85 watts be enough to drive the Kicker KMT6's and be heard by a wakeboarder or should I return the amp and get something else?

RE: 2004 SANTE Stereo Upgrade Help

I have nearly the same setup on my '03. I run the 4 in-boats of 2 channels of the amp, the KMT6 tower speakers off the other two channels, and 2 Kicker Comp VR 10's on the sub channel. (all off a ZX700.5) I don't have the bow speakers hooked up. I can hear the tower speakers pretty well at 85' rope length while riding, but they are really under-powered with that amp.

Kicker's recomendation for the KMT6's is the ZX.450.2. It will over-power them slightly, but just turn down the gains. When I have the extra money I will add this amp and keep the 700.5 to run the subs, in-boats, and connect the bow speakers.

The 700.5 does a really good job, but it just doesn't send enough power to those speakers. Can you get by with it... Yes. Will you eventually wish you had a little more power... In my case yes. It's just really hard to do an entire boat system and keep it on one amp when you have a decent set of tower speakers. I tried and wish I had just installed 2 amps.

Well, I was going to leave the KX300.4 for the in boat speakers and just use the ZX700.5 for the tower and sub. So i need an amp to drive the tower and sub since the 700.5 isn't going to do it.

If you go that way it will be hard to power the sub since it has a 2 ohm load. Kicker doesn't really make anything that will power the sub and tower at the correct loads and power.

Your best bet it to call Kicker's customer support line and ask for Phil White. He will be able to help you more than me. You may also want to talk with your local Wetsounds dealer or call David at Earmark Marine. You could also contact David here by PM... http://planetnautique.com/index.php?...ost&u=4826

These two can put you on the right track...
