    2003 SANTE Rear Speaker Problems

I've got a 2003 SANTE and when I turned it on today only the two bow speakers came on. I have no sound coming from any of the interior speakers or amp. This is the first time I have experienced this problem and cant see where my issue is.

    Anyone encountered this issue before?

A friend of mine had almost the same problem. In his case, the left channel did not work. After looking and troubleshooting the system, we found out that it was the head unit. A few questions. Is the system (amps and head unit) come with the boat? Check the fader on the head unit first. Check to see if there are fuses on the amp. If there are, one might be blown.

just knowing the way CC wires their systems (which is not the right way) it sounds like you have the factory amp and the amp is not working. THe factory set up has the fron speakers running of the deck power and the rear four running from the amp. you could have as little as a blown fuse in your power wire for the amp, or the amp itself couldbe done.

        DSJ,

Its exactly what Cam003 said. Focus on the amplifier fusing or DC breaker and related connections.

Thanks gents; Im a stereo novice. I will give your suggestions a try.

All stereo components are stock. Im assuming I can get at the amp fuses by removing the cover?

Where is the DC breaker located?

            Dave,

There should be a breaker associated with the amplifier in close proximity to either the battery switch or battery.

              check the following:
              1. if there is power to the amplifier (when the stereo is powered on, there should be a light on the amplifier that lets you know it has power.)
              2. wiggle the rca's on both sides of the wire (at the head unit and at the amplifier). If they are old, it is likely that they have worn and shorted out. If you wiggle them a bit while music is playing and the speakers turn off and on while you move them, it's the rca's.
              3. check the speaker connections on the amplifier as well, making sure they are nice and tight.

If it is not any of the above, you can further narrow your troubleshooting to the head unit, or speakers themselves. Sounds like an amp problem to me though.

                Alright Gents,

Had a chance to take the Amp cover off and determined that the two 20A fuses were both blown. It seemed odd but I thought I would replace the fuses and get the amp working again. Shut off both battery switches and attempted to put new fuses in. As soon as the new fuse made contact they immediatly blew. Cooked 5 different 20A fuses.

Does the amp get power directly from the battery and circumvent the master battery switches? I dont understand why fuses were blowing with both batteries shut off.

Looks like the amp is blown. Do I have any options?

                Suggestions? Replacements?

                Dave

there is a main fuse in the power line for the amp check that. you may need to repace it with a 40 amp fuse. Radio shack has them. so trace the poer wire back to the battery and there should be a fuse in the power line itself very close to the battery. if that does not work replace the entire power line the cable fromt he factory is crabp anyways. get some decent 8 gauge power and ground cable and run them to the battery and put a new inline fuse holder in with a forty amp fuse. and yes the stereo gets current diectly from the battery depending on who set it up so it will blow fuses with the master switch off. if the pwoer wire is conected to the master switch remove it and put it directly to the battery.

Lift the speaker wires, if it still blows the fuses likely the amp is bad. If not, you probably have a shorted speaker
