I had issues with big boom too as there is just no room what so ever for subs. I am working on installing a XS-XXX sub under my drives helm. Supposedly it is going to knock my socks off. I amp powering it with a syn1. So effectively I will have a more balanced system. Bigger boom to go along with my ridiculous jam up top. Back to the garage to finish my box.......

trust me, one XS-XXX wont be near enough.

Two 13W3's with a 1000/1 to them isnt enough for me, but then again, I am a big fan of bringing bass to the party!

Random picture, but you can see my enormous sub box behind the drivers seat in this pic.

As bchesley will soon discover, a single XXX in a ported enclosure, properly powered, correctly loaded into the boat boundaries and with the right tuning technique will definitely get it done.

The XXX on a SYN 1 that we recently installed had to be gained down. Otherwise the dash and some other parts of the boat sounded like someone was cracking a whip. The sub nor amplifier werer close to being pressed.

Its not like the XXX and SYN 1 combo is the only package capable of disassembling the boat. If you can't get it done in the boat with a single 12 then you've either got the wrong equipment or bad design and installation execution.

            Now that is funny

I think we're talking about different leagues here.

When you're talking about this much highs... a single 12 would be laughable. Your advice is solid for most people only running a single 485..

I am actually going with a sealed box for now. I have major space issues under my helm and I really want to keep it there. I would like to do a ported enclosure and might actually do it in the spring. I will just have to drag my boat to Earmark I guess. I wish you guys were closer as its a 2.5 hour drive to get to you.

I'm not saying you'd be laughed at, **** you may be happy with that set up. For my needs, that set up would not be enough. Hope it works out for you!
