RE: does anyone have wetsounds on the new fct3 tower
Robert,
A pair of Pro485s fit easily under the FCT3 tower. But, there's not room to squeeze in a pair of Pro80s and a pair of Pro485s width wise under the tower. The 80s would have to go over the horizontal tower or attach to the inside or outside of the vertical tubes. The Pro80s can be converted to an X and mount to the flat plate on the vertical section with an aluminum adapter plate much like the factory provisions. This would look a little imposing given the size of the 80s and would drill the in-boat occupants given the low positions.
If I were to do something radical on a FCT3, I would probably run two pair of symmetrical pro485s with one pair underneath and one pair over the top and sharing four custom collars. The hang height on the 485s is lower than the 80s so the collective vertical span would be tighter. Also, if you powdercoat your tower then the mounting provisions could be welded in place in advance, making for an even cleaner install.
By the way, vertically stacked speakers couple better with a polar pattern that is more advantageous for horizontal dispersion and overall output. Plus, identical speakers sum for more output than do disimilar speakers. I can see this system easily outperforming many stystems with more speakers and more power.
