New Amp mounting location on 2008 SAN 230 TE: Port Wall ok?

Am removing the clarion amps and replacing with Wetsound AMPS. Would like to mount the Wetsounds directly to the port wall, the Clarion amps are currently mounted to the walkway wall (eventually want to put a vent here so the Wetsound Amps can't be re-mounted here). Has anyone mounted amps or other equipment directly to the port wall w/o an Amp rack?

    thx!

Just make sure you don't drill down too far. I know with my 220, I felt around and noticed that CC had put a factory additional piece of fiberglass under the carpet which is what my factory clarions are mounted to. I made an additional amp rack, carpeted it, and installed it to that additional piece of fiberglass because I wasn't too keen about drilling directly into the boats fiberglass. I've heard of horror stories where people have drilled too far. Just make sure you get a proper size screw - depending on the thickness of the amp rack you're making, it doesn't have to be any bigger than an inch or inch and a half. good luck!

My 2 cents - that is not the best idea - you'll have a hole in the side of that 230. Use something as a backing plate - I used 2x4 pieces as backing plates and used 3M 4200 or 5200 adhesive to bond the wood to the fiberglass. Then I used some resin and carpeted. It will probably take you a few hours to fab up a design or make some templates to work from, but I think you should have a better piece of mind.

Do this!!!!!!!!!! No drilling required and it comes out super clean. This is not my Install but i have copied it a few times now and the results are always clean and impressive.

Read further into the link i pasted previously. there are a few sources for the stand offs and they come with their own adhesive system. good luck and make sure to post pics of the project at all stages to help out others who may have the same question one day.
