    IPod control

OK, I am sure this is going to end up embarrassing for me, but I have zero electronic technical ability, and there is a wealth of knowledge here. I cannot seem to control my IPod with the remote on the helm or even the controls on the stereo. That does not feel right to me. Sound is great, using the red and white connectors in the glove box(I have a 2007 211). What am I doing wrong?

      TString211,

You're not doing anything wrong. Those RCA jacks simply connect to the auxiliary input which has no processing ability.

If you have a CMD4A or CMD5 source unit you can add a CCAiPod module to the CeNet input for reasonable iPod functionality from your remote control.

You also have the option of accessing the auxiliary input and extending your iPod to a drivers side mount. This enables full iPod menu and control at your fingertips. You would have to make a transverse wire run. The kit includes all cables and power to charge your iPod.

LOL, no worries. I deserve it, at 44 I grew up pre-technology, and have just learned the basics. Thats why we have kids though, to teach us how to use all this stuff. Yellow_Flash_Colorz:

              I always tell people...

There are only two people in this world you can trust: me, ....and your mother.

And I'm starting to have doubts about your mother.

David, thanks for all the info. I am trying to upgrade an existing XMD1 but I would like to re utilize my two existing remotes (the old round style which is smaller) - I believe it is a M101RCB. (I have attached a photo.) I would like to take your advice and upgrade to a CMD 5 with a CCAiPod Module and would like to use it on my Iphone #g.

First, will I be able to access the playlist on the phone from the head unit? Also, I do not expect to be able to control the Iphone from those remotes, but what will I be able to do, volume, mute, off?

                Thanks,
