    remote wire ??

ever since i have taken the amp panel from the factory out i can not find a remote wite to tap the hu back into. I have constant power, 12v power and ground. so hu works but you have to manually turn off/on. i have bypassed the factory plug and went back through the plugs and can not locate it. this is driving me crazy! I have no idea where the heck it was coming from to begin with, no signs of it on factory plug that i can see at all.

    RE: remote wire ??

i guess i am talking to myself tonight. after looking at some older posts it appears that the red acc wire is the one that receives signal to turn on hu. The problem is i have tested the red wires coming from the helm on the factory harness and they all have no power. the way i can get the hu to power up is to hardwire the red acc into a amp lead that reads 12.0 v. the problem with that is the amp lead is always hot and not keyed into the ign (looking for remote). i do not know what to do here, the boat is gutted as i am installing a new stereo and i can hear the dealer now if i take it in! this problem started in the summer when i replaced an amplifier, so for the remainder of the summer i ran the hu hot with a power lead off of the amp. once that problem started my ballast gauges stopped working (ballast still filled). weird stuff. i guess maybe i need to chase down a hot wire from the helm?

The red wire(switched 12v from accessory side of ignition) is in the factory stereo harness next to the large yellow(12v constant) and black wires. Look at the wiring on the back of the ignition switch and make sure you don't have one that's loose. That wire I believe also goes through the fuse box, so it's possible you might have a tripped fuse.
