Question about cd player head units

So I am working on cleaning my boat and starting my new mods.

my 99 ss came with a cassette player. Do you guys have any preferences on head units? I want to add a transom remote....

I have been looking at these models

    Sony DCX-M60UI Marine
SONY RM-X55M RMX55M MARINE/BOAT CAR STEREO WIRED REMOTE

    SONY CDX-H905IP+RM-X55M MARINE CD/IPOD RECEIVER+REMOTE

    what are you guys thoughts?

Are you going to want to use an iPod?
i have the Fusion Marine MSIP600-- no CD player, and my iPod/iPhone fits right inside.
Waterproof, and you can add remotes easily.
Or you can go with their CD version and add an ipod dock.
Very happy with it, and the 3 year warranty cant be beat.

I'd look at something that is both ipod compatible as well usb compatible. That way, you can rip your music to an inexpensive flash drive and just leave it in the boat. My stereo has an ipod hookup. But more often than not, I'm listening to 200 or so mp3's on the CD that permanently resides in the deck.

I use the Clarion CCAIPOD interface with my Clarion CMD5 when I play a playlist or a mixed track. I use the Aux in when I want to pick music on the fly with the IPOD. I also play MP3 CDs when my nephews bring a crew on my boat, they bring what they want to hear on a MP3 CD. Having these options is very nice compared to my old XMD3 that barely played CDs and only offered one option for the IPOD interface.

Mikeski, did you have the MR301RC remote control with the XMD3? Did you change it out to something else when you went to the CMD5?

yes, the display remotes are not interchangeable. the non-display remotes work fine but I needed to upgrade from the oval to the round remote for the CMD5. This required me to make a new custom dash plate for the key of my SE, at least the new remote has a nice stainless steel bezel.
