    1996 SN 176 stereo redo

Ok, means it is the middle of winter, and I can’t ski, I was thinking about redoing the stereo in the SN. I don’t need anything really fancy, just good quality sound. Last summer I replaced the old tired POS head unit with a Clarion M309, and reran all the wire to the existing 4 crappy speakers. I would like to add a Amp, sub and new speakers. I have no idea where to mount the amp, and where to put the sub. It’s a closed bow, so I would imagine somewhere up under the bow. I just don’t know how. If you epoxy a mounting board to the hull or what. If anyone could give me some recommendations on mounting the amp, what type of speakers, amp, and sub. As well as if I should make a sealed enclosure for the sub, or if there are some good enclosures that will fit/work for me that would be great!

    Pictures would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

I have a 91 SN closed bow and I put the amp and sub under the bow on the port side just forward of the seat. I made a fiberglass mold of the hull and used that for the back of a sealed sub box. Here is a link for the same process I used but they show it being made for the back of a car. My boat is in storage but will try to post pictures the next time I head out there.

You have storage under the lookout/passenger seat correct? Build a sub box out of 3/4" MDF with the correct cubic feet required for
whatever sub you choose. Resin coat the box for water protection. Mount the amp to the back of the box and tuck it
under/into the storage area. Cover the box with factory carpet or similar - the box carpet on the factory floor carpet
has very good friction and will rarely move.
Or call earmark with questions as they would most likely be more than willing to fabricate and ship the box for you.

Both great ideas. I was just nervous how much the sub box would move around if left "loose". Once it warms up some, I am going to take it in and have someone look at it to get some more ideas.
