04' Nautique Ski 206L System setup

Hey guys, new here. I was told to setup a new stereo for a 2004 natique ski 206, so I needed to find a good board for information on correct craft boats. Looks like this is the place.

anyways, I just ordered this up for the boat. working on a $1000 budget this is what I've gotten sofar.

Amps:
-Infinity Reference 5760A - 6CH (50X4 - interior speakers, 110X2 - towers)
-Infinity Reference 310a - mono (150x1-4 ohm, 350x1-2 ohm)

Speakers:
-keeping stock clarion 6.5's and putting in a crossover (clarion EQS744)
-Running 2 tower speakers not sure yet, haven't bought them yet.

Sub:
-Infinity Kappa 120.3 DVC
-Audiobahn 12" tube enclosure

I'm not sure what to do for running power to the amp, if it should be a 4ga or bigger with a power block. I made sure to use class D amps to keep power consumption down. The crossover will help cut the bass out of the speakers to help keep the SQ clear with while at the same time running the right gain amount to the towers and to the interior . i am not sure about the sub tube, but I needed something with a good design to not fill up a needed space. so it can be put outside when the boat is in use and stored when docked. unless anyone can think of something better/cheaper/easy to make sure cuz I've never made a box before.
I've got a $1,000 budget and I've spent about $650 sofar.

Alright, I'll try to offer some advice. Putting a system in a car is a little different than putting a system in a boat. When installing a system in a boat, do not worry as much about SQ. There is so much wind and engine noise that SQ will not matter as much unless you only listen to the music when you have the boat parked. Also, if they want to be able to hear the tower speakers while riding, you are more than likely going to need more than 2 6.5" speakers on the tower. Pro audio is a lot better than car audio for the tower. The best bang for your buck is probably the Electrovoice Evid 6.2's. You can get tham at www.audioallies.com for around $350 and then you would have to get some clamps for them (www.80feetout.com, www.monstertower.com). They are 8 ohm speakers, so you will need to run them in parallel to drop them down to 4 ohms and then hook them up to a bridged 2-channel amp that will push at least 400 watts at 4 ohms.

Other than that, just don't use any subs or speakers that have paper cones because the water will ruin them pretty quick. Hope this helps ya out.

yep, the sub I got is all ceramic and poly. I am not worried much about SQ, but I knew the infinity amps were good to go when I saw they were class D, this helps keep the wear on the alt. low while still running enough power.

I will definately look into some bigger towers. the ones I saw were on ebay in the tower speaker clamps and tubes. but I am guessing they don't get loud enough.

actually just thought of something.

i can run channels 5 & 6 on the infinity amp bridged in 4 ohms stereo while the rest (1-4) run just 4 ohms stereo (not bridged - so i can run all 4 separate).

and at 4 ohms stereo bridges channels 5&6 can power at around 300 watts rms. which should be enough to drive those big boy evids 6.2s

Do I like my Evids? Simple answer Yes. From my point of view I wanted something powerful, light and relatively inexpensive. I think I got exactly what I wanted. I feel they are comparable to most 4 - 6x9 boxes with much less effort/cost. They are 8 ohm so I run them paralleled to my bridged amp for a matched load. The amp should put 400+ watts in mono.

Now, I have also ridden behind the NVS speakers and they set the standard for tower speakers. I may invest in a pair for my next boat.

Here is my view on tower speakers:
factory tower speakers = laptop speakers
Evids or 4-6x9 or 6-6.5 = decent computer speakers
NVS = nice floor standing hi-fi speakers
