so i was just on ebay and found a set of the kicker kmt6 speakers for 219.00 to my door. at first i was not much on them as they are plastic. but i read all the reviews on them and amped properly they are very loud and clear behind the boat. i am going to take them apart and paint them silver or the dark red of my hull. so we will see what happens.

Post pics for sure. I have these and wish they were better looking. Mine are a bit underpowered with only 125 watts per channel, but generally still audible at 75' out. I find that the biggest factor tends to be the source device. Some people's phones or mp3 players apparently do not output at as high of volumes as others. When playing a CD or the radio from my head unit, I'm fine, but I have run into some mp3 players out there that don't really work at 75' out. I will probably add an amp at 150 wpc for these this year if I can find one that will fit where I want to put it.
If you have the Alpine head unit, you might not have this issue, as it outputs at higher amps than my Clarion. Now

I'd love to see a set of the KTM6's painted, I think they would look sweet.

I had a set of these on my Tige 2 summers ago. I powered them up with a Kicker 450.2 and they sounded great. You cant beat them when working on a budget and dont want to spend thousands on tower speakers and an amps to push them. These got the job done and if I thought they would look better on my 08 210 I would have them now. I would like to like to see a set painted as well!2010 Super Air 230

Actually, I have my mp3 players hooked directly to the WS420. I'll try to hook up to the Clarion instead and change the Aux setting, but it won't be as clean of an install from a wiring perspective. Now

I have the KMT6 speakers and we can hear them when wakeboarding but for surfing the sound is not good, too high and a bit distorted. I am running them through a pair of JL Audio 250W bridged. Before these I had 2007 Titan Series II with MB Quart 3 way internals with a crossover. The Titans sounded great in the boat, but you could not hear them well from the back when surfing. My nautique dealer told me the MB Quart internals where not good and they recommended i upgrade to polk 6x9 cmm series (pol08691) which would fit with a little bit of shaving on the Titan box. Unless I can get some better sound out of these KMT6s I think I may try what my dealer recommended.-Jon

Polks are not going to cut it at wakeboarding lengths. Your only options are hlcd speakers or kicker kmt6. For surfing, you can use you in cabin speakers. If you don't have one, take that money you were going to spend on trying different speakers and invest in a ws-420 eq so you can easily and separately control the volume between tower and cabin. Now

ok well i just got to the point where i could say anything about these kicker speakers i got. they sound great first of all. i havent been behind the boat yet but in the driveway they sound amazing. as far as painting them. forget about it. leave them black. i took them apart and they are so well put together. lots of soldering on all the wires. lots of things inside that big pod. i did however take it all apart. sanded very well and used krylon fusion paint on them with a fusion clear. i did them burgundy first since that is what color my interior is. it looked like crap. so i sanded them back down to the black base and i found aluminum color fusion paint. so i tried that. i got two coats on and it looked amazing. where i had the problem was when i went to clear them. something had gotten onto the base coat and when i went to spray them, it reacted really really bad. orange peel reallly bad....it like cracked all over the place. so after the second time i said the **** with it. i sanded it back down to the black. and i went with a flat black color on them instead of the glossy black they came stock. so unless u have a dust proof, clean clean clean spray booth. just leave them black and enjoy the 225 dollar speakers that i think sound as good as thousand dollar ones.
