    Original Speakers - Max power?

I'm slowing upgrading my stereo in my 2001 Super Air. I'm replacing an Eclipse EA2212 amp (70 w x 2 @ 2ohms) from previous owner with a Poly-Planar marine ME-400 amp (150 w x 2 @ 2ohms). Question - what is the max power of the original cabin speakers in the Super Air (4 speakers)?

Also, help on wiring amps is appreciated.

Kicker sub- powered by Kicker 1202 amp
2 tower speakers and 4 cabin speakers - I believe these are currently powered by the Eclipse EA 2212 amp. Haven't uncovered the boat this winter, but the two tower speakers might be powered by the Kicker amp (2 x 60 w @ 2ohms).

What's the best way to power speakers for the best sound?

    Also,
my new head unit is a Sony CDX-M60UI (17 watts x 4 @ 4ohms) - I don't think this would be used to drive any of the boat speakers

Maybe 40-50 watts rms? But not 2 ohms - most likely 4 ohms.

What is a kicker 1202? Do you mean 120.2? What sub (kicker makes many)
Six speakers on the eclipse? Or is there another kicker amp besides the 1202?

Questions like this really need the owner to take the time to do the homework
and get all the exact specs and supply as much detailed info as possible.

newwakesurfer, you are in charge of how much power go into the speakers not the 'amp' by using the volume control. When you turn up the volume and the sound starts to distort it is either too much power from a high powered amp or clipping from an under powered amp. Either way turn it down a bit.
