Sub not working

I've got the XMD3 with the stock kicker amp and sub. I just got the boat out of storage and the sub isn't working, The little red light is on, on the amp, so I assume it's got power and working. I do hear faint static from the sub. Nothing seems to be unplugged. Can someone tell me some basic things to check? I also wouldn't rule out the dials on the amp itself, as my youngest was under there playing while I was working on the exterior. So If there is a combination of settings that would cause these symptoms that might just be it.
