    ported sub enclosure question

hey guys building a sub box for a alpine 1042d . there are a number of sites for building box's for cars that sound pressure is important however in a boat this can't be an issue . just wondering if there is a different set of rules for dimensions or just follow alpines recommendations .

      1992snob ,

Provide an example of a site where the box calculation considers 'sound pressure', so I'll have an idea as to whether you're referring to S.P.L. or the loading effect of a non-compliant vehicle cabin.

      I'm at least curious.

First off i'm not an audiphile , just wanted an opinion after being caught up in box design sites like this one that you almost need to be
an engineer to figure out .
Spl and loading as david describes are not even terms that i would know the proper definition of , sorry if I my question was misleading to
a much larger problem than i'm having .
        thanks

          1992snob,

          Okay, thanks.

Just ahere to the Manufacturer's specs on box design.

Go with ported if they give you the option and if this can be done in a manner where both the driver and port are on the same side and unobstructed.

If not, sealed will be fine. The idea is to not force a particular approach. Let the boat dictate which is best.
