    2009 Stereo Questions / Advice

Last summer I had my stereo done and was never really happy so I'm looking for help and suggestions below is my current set up:
I left the Stock head unit and interior speakers and Installed a JL MHD 600/4 to power the cabin interior speakers and the head unit is powering the bow speakers. A JL 12w7 being powered by a MHD 750/1 and currently have the stock sub not currently connected. I have Wetsounds WS-420 installed and a pair of 485's being powered by a Syn 4amp. I also have three gel batteries running the stereo running the stereo and a on board charger so the batteries get charged every night.
I really dont feel that I'm getting the kind of sound out of this system that I had in the last boat system that I did and feel that I should be getting alot more bass out of the sub. I'm currently thinking about purchasing another MHD 600/4 to run the bow speakers and possible the factory sub or running all three sets of speakers off the original MHD 600/4. I'm up in the air about selling the 12w7 and putting a different sub in or switching out the amp. The last few things that I keep thinking about is should I swap out the head unit for a better unit and should I swap out the factory sub for something else.

Please help I have alot of decisions to figure out

    Allen,

The 750/1 is on the light side for a 12W7 but it will get the job done provided the 12W7 enclosure is bass-reflex and that you have an adequately vented locker. However, if your locker is solid and the enclosure is sealed you're always going to come up short.

Correct system tuning will also be a major determining factor in how your system performs. Remember that you don't tune a boat anything like you tune a vehicle.

If your 12W7 is set up right, the factory sub won't make a meaningful contribution.

Since you have plenty of voltage and six discrete outputs on the WS420, plus you're probably just using the factory head unit as an iPod pass-through, I can't see how a source unit replacement is going to positively impact your particular system.

Either rewire the 600/4 to run all six in-boat coaxials or get a JL XD 4-channel and bridge it to run the bow speakers. This does need correcting for sure.

Do you mean AGM batteries or Gel?

I think that I will rewire the 600/4 to handle all the speakers, how do you suggest to wire the amp? I would like to talk to you about possible a different enclosure for the sub, the current enclosure is a wood sealed unit The big problem is that I have the garbage can option in this boat so that takes away some space. I also am runnig 3 AGM batteries (Deka's). So please talk to me regarding the enclosure and if you feel that I should look to repalce sub amp. I'm looking forward to hear your suggestions
