Questions about mounting amps

I have done the searches and read many posts, but I still have a few questions.

1. When gluing mounting boards to the interior side walls , how does a flat board fit against the curved side wall of the boat? Doesn't it actually touch the fiberglass only in a few spots?

2. I read about one guy using Hyfax... what is that and where do you get it? It looked like material used for a cutting board...

3. I have a small peice of white platic board material I got from West C. CC, for mounting my ballst pumps... but now I would like more for mounting my amps... what is that stuff and where do I get it? That material is also used for the hard backing of seat cushions.

1, Either make some shims to make it fit right or saw some relief cuts in the back side of the board, then it will curve just enough to fit the curve of the boat. be sure to seal the board incase it gets damp.

2, epoxy resin works well

I'm not going to glue mine to the hull. Reason: I remove it during the winter as part of my dewinterization process. I'm setting my amp board up for easy removal and installation.

How do you plan to secure it? (and where?)
I'm just building a sub box, but I'll be mounting my amps in a week or two.

I'm going to put mine in the capartment under the observers seat on a board. I'll have 2 amps that will fit on the board with cable/power management built in. I'll more than likely secure the top temporarily so that I can remove the whole unit during the winter. I've seen it implemented at my dealer in ATL. I haven't looked at the specifics yet, but am about to take my boat in for winterization (...crying as I say that). When I learn more, I'll let you know.

Hmm... Maybe a sliding shelf with some quick disconnects for power and speaker harnesses would work well.

Loudliquid and boss do some nice harnesses, not cheap though..
