My kick panel for the closed bow is a little different since there is a solid hump behind it. I have the sub box mounted on top of that behind where the wiring harness passes through to the bilge. Mine is open above the kick panel. So I have the sub firing sideways about a foot or so off the side of the hull.

My dealer had a lot of scrap carpet pieces that is used to pad shipments from CC. He had one just large enough for the pod. I may see if he has another piece to use over the blank.
Any chance of getting some pictures of where you have the sub? Did you build the sub enclosure, or was it a pre-built one?

The sub box is a prebuilt sealed truck slant box. I had a pretty generic sub in it and replaced the sub with a Polk MM840. If I recall correctly, the exterior dimensions are 11" H x 20"w x 3" D1 x 6" D2. Volume is 0.38, which is what is recommended for the MM840.

This picture is my previous arrangement with the old sub and two amps mounted on a board behind the sub box(to the starboard side of the box). Currently, the sub faces the other way and I have a 5 channel infinity Amp mounted to a board that is, in turn, mounted directly to the sub box. The sub reflects nicely off the starboard hull and, since the kickboard doesn't seal the underbow storage off (doesn't go all the way up to the top deck, it has a nice vent and you can hear it pretty well.

The wires are a mess in the picture and have since been cleaned up a lot. The box is coated with a clear sealant.
